US Census Bureau – Website Highlights

The US Census Bureau’s website at www.census.gov contains many useful statistics and data sets. Below are some highlights …

  • American Factfinder – Source for population, housing, economic, and geographic statistics (search by city/town, county or zip code); data sets; population trends
  • American Community Survey (ACS) – Provides population and housing characteristics every year instead of every ten years; part of the 2010 Decennial Census Program
  • Economic Census – Statistics on manufacturing, construction, retail, and other business sectors
  • Economic Indicators – Most recent indicators of business activities by business sector and industry
  • FedStats – Statistics from over 100 US federal agencies
  • Local Employment Dynamics – Labor market information for state, county, workforce area, or metropolitan area; Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI) – a dataset of eight labor market indicators
  • Maps – Detailed maps by county block, voting district, and census outline; plus custom, online mapping
  • Population clocks – US and World counts
  • QuickFacts – Facts about people, businesses, and geographic entities in each state and Washington, DC
