Wikiscanner
Posted by lrath on August 20, 2007
The Wikiscanner is a new website that traces the edits made in Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that allows anyone to create and edit entries. Wikiscanner traces the edits back to the computer–by IP address. Why is this important? You can trace who made the edit(s), and how they changed the words within the Wikipedia entry. In other words, you can see how corporations, government agencies, and etc. are performing “insider editing”and corporate revisions to Wikipedia entries.
Connect to the Wikiscanner page for links to articles about the product, information about the creator, and to search for edits by organization name, location, and IP address (if you know it). You may want to browse the Editor’s Picks of Wikipedia edits.
