At the request of Undergraduate Student Government the library will be open to Baruch College students for 24 hours for a second week of mid-terms.  The library will is now open around the clock until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 27.

March 5th, Thursday, workshop: “Company’s Coming .. Are you prepared?” will help you with researching companies.

The Practice Room , room 636 in the 6th floor computing lab of the Library/Technology Building, is available to Baruch College students to practice their class presentations using the same technology (podium, projector, computer) that is found in Baruch’s smart classrooms.

You can borrow the key for the room at the Newman Library circulation/reserve desk. The keys are charged out for a 1-hour loan or until 10 minutes before the desk closes, whichever is earlier. Groups are allowed one renewal (for the same loan period), if no other group is waiting.

You are reading an article you found in a library database, and the author of the article quotes/cites another person’s work that you would like to incorporate into your paper. Who do you cite and how?

If you want to use a source that was cited in another source (a secondary source) for a paper you are writing ….

1. Name the original source in your signal phrase
2. Include the secondary source in your parenthetical citation, preceded by the words “as cited in”
3. List the secondary source in your reference list/bibliography

In this APA example, Mills is the secondary source:
Jordan argued that …. (as cited in Mills, 2007, p. 70).

If you are required to use another style, such as MLA, Chicago, or Turabian, please refer to the respective style manual on how to cite indirect sources (this information could be listed under “indirect sources”, “citing sources”, or “in-text parentheticals”, also.)
