National Academies Press Electronic Books

Posted by lrath on October 6, 2006

Over 3,000 free books are available at the National Academies Press website. A wide range of topics are covered, such as: behavioral & social sciences; computers & information technology; conflict & security issues; education; energy & energy conservation; health & medicine; industry & labor; and more. The books are published by the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council. You can browse by categories or search for a topic. Once you click on a book’s title, a book record page will appear with the cost of the book — if you want to order it. To read or download it for free, you will need to scroll down the page to find the Read and Download section (if it is available for free). You can also subscribe to an email service alerting you of new books in the topic areas of your choice.
