Announcements in the Library – Student Input

Posted by lrath on June 15, 2007

  • Should the library use the PA (public address) system — or speakers — to make announcements about desk and library closings?
  • Would it be helpful or disruptive to hear announcements stating when the Circulation and Reference desks close?
  • Is the library already too loud and disruptive without the announcements? Should students read the library’s website and signs to get service desk hours?
  • Do students need to be reminded of service desk closings because they are often busy studying and are not aware of the time? Are announcements needed because students are not aware that the Circulation and Reference desks close before the library closes?
  • Should the PA system only be used for emergencies?
  • What are your thoughts?
